Turn the Key: Power Up with Classroom Instruction

Teens begin with interactive classroom instruction, offered in person or on Zoom, where they learn the rules of the road. During this phase, students complete their Permit Test and receive the DEE-964 certificate.
Reserve your teen's place with a $300 deposit, with the remaining balance due on the last classroom day.

Dashboard Check: Secure the Learners Permit

To receive a Learner Permit, the student must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the Department of Public Safety.
Appointments should be scheduled in advance using the Texas DPS appointment system at public.txdpsscheduler.com, and select "Apply for First-Time Texas DL/Permit" as the service.
At the DPS appointment, students will need the DEE-964 certificate, a Verification of Enrollment from their high school (valid for 30 days), proof of identity, and a Social Security card. The accompanying parent or guardian must show 2 proofs of residency.

Shift Gears: Drive, Observe, and Build Control

With a valid Learner Permit, students may begin scheduling their driving and observation hours through their student account.
Behind-the-wheel lessons allow students to shift from theory to real-world driving, practicing skills under instructor guidance. Observation hours help students learn by watching real traffic situations, reinforcing safe decision-making and awareness.
Students must hold their Learner Permit for a minimum of six months while completing all required driving hours.

Ready for the Open Road: Road Test Day and Earning your License

Once a student has completed the full course, turned 16, and held a Learner Permit for at least six months, they are eligible to schedule their Road Test and take the final step toward earning their driver license.
Bring all required completion documents, including the DEE-964 certificate, Impact Texas Teen Certificate (valid for 90 days), the completed 30-hour driving log, and a Verification of Enrollment (valid for 30 days). The parent or guardian who signed the 30-hour log must be present.
After passing the road test, families may schedule a DPS appointment to receive the Texas provisional driver license, or choose electronic submission of test results through the driving school.

This accelerated format keeps students focused and engaged while building a strong foundation for safe, responsible driving, leaving the rest of summer open for practice and progress. DPS APPOINTMENT REMINDER - Parents and students are encouraged to schedule the DPS learner permit appointment as soon as possible for a date after the class ends. Students will receive their DE-964 completion certificate on the final day of class, which must be presented at DPS to be issued the learner license. Students are Highly Encouraged to request their Verification of Enrollment from their high school during the last week of school. This will make the VOE valid for the entire summer. CONTRACT EXPIRATION - The 9-month contract begins on the first day of class, giving families plenty of time to complete both classroom and behind-the-wheel training. All program requirements must be finished by February 19, 2027.
